Gold Deposits Unearthed at Adasa-Rampalli in Deogarh District

top-news

In recent exciting news, the Geological Survey of India has made a significant discovery of gold deposits during the G2 level exploration for copper ore at Adasa-Rampalli in the Deogarh district of Odisha. This groundbreaking discovery was announced during an assembly session, and it has sparked considerable interest. The state government is gearing up to initiate the auction process for the gold mine in the near future. Interestingly, this isn't the first time such exploration has taken place in the region. Earlier surveys in the Gopur - Gajipur area of Keonjhar district were conducted in 1981-83 and 1989-96, revealing the potential for gold deposits. Building on these earlier findings, the GSI and the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Odisha, have been diligently carrying out re-inspections at the identified spot since 2021-22.
However, it's important to note that while the potential for gold extraction exists, the state government has clarified that there are currently no plans for extraction. This decision is linked to the fact that the quality and quantity of the gold mine are yet to be determined.Furthermore, the Odisha Mining Corporation is actively conducting G4 and G3 level surveys at Mankadachuan, Saleikana, and Dimirimunda areas of the state in a bid to locate gold reserves. This underscores the comprehensive nature of the ongoing exploration efforts in the region. In parallel, the Directorate of Mines and Geology and GSI are also conducting surveys in the Jashipur, Suriaguda, Ruansi, Idelkucha, Maredihi, Sulaipat, and Badampahar areas of Mayurbhanj district to explore potential gold deposits. This comprehensive and meticulous approach to exploration highlights the significance of this region in the search for gold reserves. Scattered deposits of gold have also been found in some places in the Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Angul, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Boudh districts of Odisha.
